I find it interesting that for the past week or so my pastor at Destiny Christian Center has been talking about the End Times and all of the happening that correlate with Scripture. Some/most people/scientists would say that its just random coincidence to natural happening in the cosmic universe. And yet, all the prophecies for the 1st coming all came true even from the mathematical point of view.
I do however; find it quite ironic at the same time that a movie is about to be released called Knowing with Nicolas Cage. PLOT -- A teacher (Cage) opens a time capsule that has been dug up at his son's elementary school; in it are some chilling predictions; some that have already occurred and others that are about to; some that lead him to believe his family plays a role in the events that are about to unfold leading to the end of the world. -- We make movies, write books, etc about the End Times, but we never look at or compare the only book that gives us the most detailed time line about what will happen.
Why is it that a book that has been on the Best Selling Book list for years upon years upon years never gets taken seriously unless there's a crisis?
Why do we not realize that the answer have been in front of us for generation?
We as a people, a church, a nation need to buck up and take a good hard look at our situations and realize that we are in the middle of it all and judgment is coming hard and fast for those that aren't waiting. The answers are there we are just too used to being in control of our lives and having too many options. Also the answers we find are usually not the answers we are looking for. We are too scared to realize that even thought we have these answers and the time lines and the warning we also have the plans and answers to save ourselves and the people around us.
has anyone ever had one of those conversations thats important but u just know that u hurt someone. whether it was the person that u were talking to or someone u were talking about. sometimes it can be a good hur,t or a hurt that makes the person rethink a decision they made previously, or a worse hurt about ones past to make them rethink.
all hurts are good in the long run u just have to trust God that all will work out for His plan for History!!!!
I'm w/o money and w/o a job! I'v been trying to get a job for a while but nothing seems to work and I'm out of ideas. Every idea i have backfires. every direction i take goes no where. I'v given it to Him but nothing seems to be happening. I'm between a rock and a hard place! Going back to school, needing to pay rent, stressed out of my mind, and worried that I'm going to get kicked out of the house soon. On top of that I have a wonderful, beautiful, talented, energetic, loving girl friend that I can't take out because of it. What is a guy supposed to do.
I am currently out of a job and out of money! I hate filling out applications online, and I'll tell you why. The questions that they ask you are important and well worth the time effort to answer but where does it get you? No where. The personality of the person that is filling out the applications is lost. What happened to walking into a place of business that needs help and presenting yourself. Questions in a none personal context don't do anything. You can lie out your butt on a questionnaire but when your in person it seem that more likely to get caught. Of course I'm talking the worst case for people who do that, my point is that an online application is so impersonal and your just a person looking for a job instead of a young man out of HS looking to further his career in this place of business.
I could have thought that the original meaning of CHRISTmas was the celebration of the Lord Jesus Christ's birth in to this world. The things we think about and shop for and do I would say 90% of the time is about St. Nicholas.
One mans generosity turns into a nation wide ... NO ... WORLD wide celebration of generosity.
By no means am I saying that the Holidays and Christmas is bad. No no quite the contrary in fact. The Holidays for the most part bring out the best in people. I know that you can search the internet and find story after story of tragedy over the holiday season. Such as this year a Walmart worker getting trampled to death because some people wanted to be in line first and be the first to get something that is going to put about 50% + of Americans in deeper debt. Don't let me go into that.
People, for the most part are nice and giving during this season, BUT, i still stress the point that the original meaning of Christmas for a few thousand years or so was the birth of the Savior of the World. Where did we go wrong? How can we fix it? Yes Yes paster and preachers all over give their holiday sermons and thats all fine and dandy but for most people it just goes in one ear then out the other.
Giving gift on Christmas is amazing recreation of what GOD did for us but giving us HIS son in the flesh. But dont let that be our focus w/o the other half. Everything comes in pairs: Ying and Yang, right and wrong, good and bad, life and death.
95% of the time the Holiday Season is good just for the fact that peoples good sides come out. But the Bad part is that we loose sight of the true meaning of Christmas because of one mans generosity and caring a few hundred years ago, not that that act in and of itself was good too.

Tradition - the handing down of statements, beliefs, legends, customs, information, etc., from generation to generation, esp. by word of mouth or by practice.
Tradition in and of itself is not a bad. It becomes bod, irritating, and annoying when it get forced on us.
Take for example church. Traditionally in the Baptist church this is the schedule -- Welcome church, sing 3 hymns, give a sermon, thanks for being here and have a great day. Its the same thing over and over again with no passion or hardly any influence to the congregation. Here is where tradition and the topic of tradition gets messy.
When the elders and old people of the church wont let certain instruments or types of music into the church service to bring more young people into the congregation. Even if they did not allow it in the main big services on Sunday mornings surly they would allow them on Wednesday nights in the Youth Department or even the youth department on sundays as well. Sometime you'll get some elders that are so stubborn and stuck in the traditional ways of the church from who knows how long ago that they throw a fit about it.
These elders and leaders of the church need to realize that their tradition and way of doing things doesn't reach the young people of todays society with the Rap, Techno, R&B, Heavy Rock, Pop, etc. Why can't we both exist? Why do we as young people have to conform to what they want? They can have their hymns, organs, and traditions and we can do things our way.
There is a scene in the movie Accepted at the end where one college is trying to get rid of another college because they do things totally different than the traitional definition of a college. The main character stresses the point that I made above about why they both cant exsist.
Why cant we both exist? I'll give you a reason -- one side not the other doesn't want to loose! The thing about that is though, The young people dont want to loose because the traditions in the church are boring and dont do anthing so to speak for them; on the other hand they elders dont want to loose because they are the elders and we as young people should listen to and obey them.
Where have we gone as a society where we cannot comprimise with and for eachother?
Leave a comment whether you agree or disagree I dont care I'm just bringing the issue to the serface.
hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving. i know i did, spending time with family and friends talking reminising and eating. definatily missed a few people.... ok just one person. the gf was missed a ton!
just dont forget the reason for the season, and the thanks that we need to give the one most high!
Nature in and of itself without any religious or belief system is a beautiful thing. Sunrises are so amazing and sunsets are even better! The beauty of mother bear leading her cubs to the river and teaching them the ways of their kind. How is it then that some can say that it all happened by chance, and that there is no creator or some supreme being that is watching over everything that happens.
